US Resident Traveler Requirement (Canada)

Please be sure to read all of this carefully to understand what will be required of your customers to not only enter Canada, but to enter NL, and to return home to the USA:

  • All Customers coming to NL to angle or hunt will need to complete the NL Travel Form (click this link to find the form)
  • All US clientele will need to be fully vaccinated a minimum of 14 days before entering Canada.
  • All US Clientele will need to complete an application to enter into Canada via ArriveCan
  • All US Clientele will need to provide proof of a negative Covid test a maximum of 72 hours before entering into Canada. This must be a PCR test.
  • All FLYING US Clientele must provide proof of a negative covid test a maximum of 72 hours before returning home to the USA and the test can be a PCR test or Antigen Test. Note: This DOES NOT apply to US Clientele who drive here. Those driving are not required to get tested before returning home.
  • All US Clientele will need a Quarantine Plan for ArriveCan. The quarantine plan could be made for your lodge. If using your lodge, the plan would need to have specific details on how they would isolate while at your lodge (i.e. The outfitter has set aside a separate camp or designated area as the area for isolation).

 

Also please include that Covid testing is available at the Deer Lake airport by appointment and here’s some details on that, including how to make an appointment…

Main Street Medical Center – Their Deer Lake Airport Office should be up and running tomorrow Friday Sept 3/21 for on-site testing and a reminder that they now have a provincial COVID testing line – 709.990.1418 to discuss all your testing needs. The scope of services include: – Collection and processing of COViD19 Rapid Antigen; $75/ test; results available in 15 minutes and patients leave with their results – Collection of COViD19 PCR testing – Non-public health criteria – $195 – includes collection and transportation fee to Avalon Labs, and their fee. Results typically available in 36-48 hours.

Included With Your Hunting Package

Not Included With Your Hunting Package

  • Meat processing (if requested) – $0.80 per pound and up depending on cuts
  • Meat & Trophy shipping – cost is determined by weight and quantity
  • Staff gratuity
  • Extra nights in hotel outside of hunt dates. Hunters are kindly advised to allow an extra day at each end of their hunt to permit transfers to and from camp, thank you.

 

Itinerary

  • Day 0 – Arrive in Newfoundland and stay at the Deer Lake Motel adjacent to the Deer Lake airport (YDF).
  • Day 1 – Get picked up by Ironbound staff and transferred to the helicopter or float plane base. Fly to camp. Get settled it, have breakfast/lunch, and go hunting.
  • Day 2-7 – Hunting
  • Day 8 – Depart camp in the morning and fly by helicopter or float plane to Deer Lake. Ironbound staff will be waiting to take you to the meat processers and arrange shipping and processing of meat & trophies. Stay at the Deer Lake motel.
  • Day 9 – Depart for home.

Arriving In Newfoundland By Air

The airport in Deer Lake, Newfoundland (YDF) is serviced by Air Canada with several daily flights from Toronto and Halifax. We kindly advise our guests to allow an extra day at each end of the hunt to permit transfers to and from hunting camp. You should arrive in Deer Lake, NL the day before your hunt begins, and book your departure for the day after your hunt ends. This will allow time to fly out of camp if the weather is bad, and to arrange processing and shipping of the meat/ trophy. The Deer Lake motel is pleased to provide a special rate for our guests who wish to stay extra nights before or after your hunt dates.

Arriving In Newfoundland By Road

Guests who are driving to Newfoundland can book the Marine Atlantic overnight ferry crossing departing North Sydney, Nova Scotia, and arriving in Port aux Basque NL on the day your hunt begins. From your arrival in Newfoundland our base camp is about 1.5 hrs by road on route 480 off the TCH. We will meet you there. You may wish to book your departure for the day after your hunt ends.

Our hunting areas are expansive, but because of our ideal fly in locations most game are taken within a mile or two from camp. Hunting is done on foot and in the spirit of fair chase. Guests are advised to ensure their personal fitness is appropriate for this type of hunt. The reward will be well worth the effort!
